I believe that it should be easy for anyone to set up an Internet radio station and it should also be easy for anyone to listen to it. Open codecs make it easier for developers to produce technology which enables radio stations to exist and listeners to tune in.
With this idea in mind, I created openradio.co.uk, a site dedicated to explaining this principle and, most importantly, providing links to some fantastic radio stations for people to listen to. Many of the stations are tiny independent broadcasters, some run by one person. Have a listen–I’m pretty confident you’ll find something you like!
